And God said to Isaiah, “Yes, go, and say to this people: “Listen carefully, but do not understand. Watch closely, but learn nothing. Harden the hearts of these people. Plug their ears and shut their eyes. That way, they will not see with their eyes, nor hear with their ears, nor understand with their hearts and turn to me for healing.”
Jesus said: “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
It was a time of national crisis. After 52 years, King Uzziah was dead. Isaiah went to the temple to mourn his death. That’s when the real King showed up. Isaiah only provided one description of God, that the train of His robe filled the Temple. This spoke to His majesty. Six wing Seraphs revealed God’s character. They constantly proclaimed: Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD. Their voices shook the thresholds of the Temple.
Yahweh’s brilliance revealed Isaiah’s sinful state. What made matters worse is Isaiah, the mouthpiece of God, had dirty lips, and came from a people whose dirty mouths revealed their impure hearts. Immediately, Isaiah felt painful grace as one of the angels placed a live coal on his lips, burning away his sin. That’s when Isaiah heard God’s call repeating over and over, “Who will we send, who will go for us?” Isaiah replied “Here I am. Send me!”
How would you like to have Isaiah’s calling on your life? He was to go and preach to the people in and around Jerusalem. The purpose: so they would further harden their hearts. Maybe you have loved ones who have hardened their hearts towards God. Keep praying, while there’s time! Don’t give up! Pray that they hear His voice! Invite them to Rock Point… again!
